Abstract
This paper observes how recent English-language scholarship on historical piracy (as with other maritime topics) has been stimulated by factors such as the digitization of sources, which has increased the quantity of information available; and the continued march of newer, often interdisciplinary approaches. Together they continue to encourage new contributions to the subject.
