Author Guidelines

Although articles pertaining to non-English-speaking regions are encouraged, Coriolis is currently published only in the English language. Consequently, submissions must be in English. Essays should range between 2,500 and 7,000 words, exclusive of notes, and they should be accompanied by an abstract of up to 150 words. Submission files should be in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. The text should be single-spaced and in a 12-point font, without headers or footers. Please double-space before and after block quotations. Please use italics rather than underlining, except in the case of URLs. Please follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition (2003), for questions of grammar and usage, punctuation, spelling and compound-word conventions, treatment of names and numbers, and conventions for quotations. Coriolis observes the humanities style of numbered source citations as detailed in the Chicago Manual of Style. For convenient reference, see http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html. In most cases detailed source notes are sufficient; a bibliography is not required. Authors are encouraged to submit supplementary files, including data sets, research instruments, source texts, MP3 files, or pertinent jpg illustrations, to enhance readers’ engagement. In its peer-review process, Coriolis uses a double-blind system of assessment by two scholars in the pertinent field of study. Authors should not, therefore, include bylines on their submissions. For further information, see the Submission Preparation Checklist.
